This was an art journey for sure! - I was experimenting with liquid sculpey on Canvas panel, I used melted crayon technique on top of the sculpey and it was very slick, I used very dark colors of purple and orange. It was hard to paint with acrylics, but I'm very happy with it. To finish it...I used clear embossed. Postcard 6X4

Melted Crayon Inches

This is a good use of left overs of Melted Crayon Backgrounds. My first time I've done inches and It was a challenge to paint in such small scale. I think I need to get new glasses lol!

Melted Crayon -Water and Oil Mix

Today...I tried something new I wanted to mix water colors and the melted crayon background. It is just like trying to mix water and oil. Can you tell which card it is? The eraser helped a lot priming for the watercolors. The other three cards are melted crayon and acrylics a lot easier to mix.

Melted Crayon Digital

I scanned a 4x4 melted crayon background and I found some paintbrushes for photoshop... Another example of melted crayon background and it can be used numerous times!

Pear Postcard

Today, I felt like wanting to draw something easy. A pear came to my mind. I drew the pear and painted it with melted crayon... Used prisma colors for shading and a few spots of acrylics.

Melted Crayon ATCs

Two more ATCs done with the Melted Crayon Technique. This seems to work for me when I get stuck on what to draw. I always seem to try to get references. This is why I'm in love with this technique. I let my imagination take off and read between the random swirls or ink spots. Very happy with these two cards and I hope the recipients are too.

Today's Project

I've been working on a Class Project today! I looked for that perfect stamp everywhere until I found her. Finally made it here yesterday... I named her Myra - Jewel of the Nile. She is so beautiful. This is for a Melted Crayon Background Class. I'm including the before and after as I started with this project.

No Muse!

Sometimes it's so difficult to get ideas for swaps. When that happens I go to my melted crayon technique and let the swirls talk to me. These images appeared on the cards and all I needed was to follow the outlines. Makes the cards very unique and I don't need to look at pictures for reference.

Happy Creating

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday! I've been so busy. Finally finished a Secret Santa package that was due... I mailed it yesterday! Now I have a long to do list. I joined a few swaps at ATCsforAll, and MAW. I was thinking of dropping a couple but I have never withdrawn from any swap and I don't want to start doing that. I have committed now I have to execute. Today I have been drawing like crazy most of them are sketches. I'll post as soon as I'm finished with them.

I had a hard time with one of the themes and end-up enjoying it the most. The theme was "Inanimate object with bat wings" and I think I delivered. All my backgrounds are melted crayon!

My Backgrounds

I'm a mixed media experimenter, I love collage, stamping, hand/drawn and painting. I've been trying different techniques; I did some crayon batik and encaustic wax. While I was experimenting with these two techniques, I created a new technique that I call "Melted Crayon". I like to detail my work with acrylic paints and color pencils.

Here is a sample, of my work this one is hand painted.
